Joy As Three Africans Share Golden Boot In EPL

Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both scored twice on the final yesterday to share the Premier League's Golden Boot award for top scorer with last season's victor Mohamed Salah.

Title rivals Manchester City meanwhile are at Brighton and Hove Albion, with a one point lead over Liverpool at the top.

This meant the award was shared between three players for the first time since 1998-99 when Michael Owen, Dwight Yorke and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink hit 18 goals each.

"I say congratulations to Manchester City and we will fight again next season for this trophy".

The Egyptian netted 32 times in the 2017/18 campaign - eleven more than he, Mane and Aubameyang managed this season.

Liverpool still have the chance to win a trophy this season.

The achievement of the three African strikers left Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp especially proud as he has played such an important part in the development of the trio's careers.

He continued to speculate and came to the humourous conclusion that the Golden Boot winners for this season are "all my players". Their final points tally of 97 earns them the unfortunate distinction of having the highest final points score without actually winning the championship in the history of the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah was the golden boot victor in the 2017-18 season as well, and he capped off a brilliant season by winning the award this time as well.
