Novak Djokovic's match against Jeremy Chardy is being live streamed on Amazon Prime Video.

Dominic Thiem edged a thrilling clash with Roger Federer 3-6 7-6 (11) 6-4 to end the Swiss veteran's clay season comeback and reach the Madrid Open semi-finals on Friday. "Roland Garros, on clay is where I want to peak". Fortunately he's now had two good three set wins over tough clay court opponents in Jan-Lennard Struff and Laslo Djere but will this be enough to give him the confidence to overcome the World No.1?

Djokovic played with a swagger in the first set before Chardy warmed to the task in the second, but was unable to win a set point at 5-4 on Court Manolo Santana.

Djokovic, who is enjoying his 250th week at the top of the men's Association for Tennis Professional (ATP) rankings, will continue his quest for the 62nd title when he locks horns with the victor of other semi-final clashes between fourth-seeded Swiss Roger Federer and fifth-seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem. But he came back stronger in the next two sets and went through to the 3rd round of the Mutua Madrid Open 2019. As we already said, he did that in style in set number two, sailing through his service games and using the fact that Novak played at a little bit slower pace, passive at some points and without the energy that carried him in the opener. He defeated Klizan 6-4, 2-6, 7-6.

The fifth-seeded Thiem, runner-up in Madrid the last two seasons, will next face top-ranked Novak Djokovic, who didn't have to play his quarterfinal after Marin Cilic withdrew because of food poisoning.

"It was supposed to be definitely a good match", said Djokovic, who has played only four sets this week.

Djokovic won the Madrid title in 2016 and 2011. Federer broke back to pull level at 4-4 but the Austrian broke again in the next game, sealing it with a sensational forehand over his opponent before serving out the match. "Happy that I'm going to be fresh for my semifinal". He was runner-up in Madrid the last two years. "So the challenge couldn't be bigger".
