Constance Wu 'literally cried' after Fresh Off the Boat got renewed

"So upset right now that I'm literally crying".

She followed up later saying, "F--ing hell".

Constance Wu said she was initially unhappy that "Fresh Off the Boat" was renewed for a sixth season because it meant she had to give up another project she was passionate about.

"The Rookie", "Bless This Mess", and "Single Parents" will all be returning for their second seasons, while "American Housewife" will be coming back for its fourth and "Fresh Off the Boat" for its sixth.

Gemma liked the tweet, but the tweet has since been deleted so it has disappeared from her liked posts.

And after starring in last year's Crazy Rich Asians, she's likely received offers for bigger film roles.

Wu added that the other project would have been "really hard and not easy or pleasant" but "my words and ill-timing were insensitive to those who are struggling" to land a Hollywood career.

"I've always sought artistic challenge over comfort and ease", said Wu in a lengthy message posted to Twitter. "I did not say it was over a tv show", she stated.

Fans of the show were not too happy with Wu's ungrateful response to the show being renewed and were quick to call her out.

There was a lot of social media conversation regarding what Wu was upset about and why. She later tried to do an about-face by Tweeting her followers had no idea what he or she was referencing in her previous posts, which have now been deleted. "So I can both love the show/cast/crew but at the same time be disappointed that I lost that other unrelated job". "Plz (please) know, Im so grateful for FOTB renewal. Im proud to be a part of it (sic)".

"Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day&were ill timed w/the news of the show", she tweeted on Friday. "You're making an assumption", she tweeted. "For all the fans support, thank u". Another user tweeted, "Please don't bring women's issues and believing women into this".

But apparently it really was Wu behind the tweets as she not only left up the first to posts, but she also walked back her earlier statements in some follow-up posts.
