Game of Thrones returned to HBO and Sky Atlantic with its eighth and final season on April 15 and - four episodes in - we've already witnessed the grisliest battle in the show's history - not to mention the longest ever episode of 82 minutes long.

Game of Thrones has a knack for saving its biggest moments for second-to-last.

It all started because Dany had quickly discovered that Jon had betrayed her (by telling Sansa who told Tyrion who told Varys about Jon being the true heir), and she was beyond pissed.

It's time to see the battle for the Iron Throne to come to an end.

Point is, there was never any logical reason for Tyrion's fear that deploying the dragons would kill innocent people. Grey Worm was responsible for a number of deaths as he strolled through the battle. They only live as much as the Lord of Light wants them to; something that Thoros, Beric and Melisandre all knew. The images offer a new look at stars Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Conleth Hill.

At King's Landing, Cersei let the people through the gates to use as human shields.

Monster Hunter World's Iceborne Expansion Launches September 6

Amidst all the commotion of war Arya (Maisie Williams) and The Hound (Rory McCann) are on their own mission which adds an interesting question mark to the entire affair. After breaking through the doors, most of the Golden Army was quick to go.

In the tenth episode of season two, entitled "Valar Morghulis", Daenerys entered the House of the Undying to find her stolen baby dragons. He kills Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbeck) and tries to lead her to safety through a secret passage. Despite her high-minded claims-all that breaking-the-wheel-nonsense-Daeny clearly practices a fiery form of collective punishment.

The armies made their way into the city and took out any soldiers they came across. Dany landed with Drogon and there was a tense wait but soon the bells began to ring to signal surrender.

There, outside the castle walls, stand Jon Snow, Davos and Tyrion - along with all the remaining Dothraki and Unsullied forces. In the end, they went out in a blaze of glory, falling out one of the open arches and into the flames below, locked in a grisly embrace. The Kingslayer wouldn't give up though and he put his sword through Euron. Jaimie was caught trying to get back to Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Tyrion simply waltzes in to talk to him.

If you're anxious that Cersei will die alone, there is no need to despair. If Arya followed him, she would not survive.
