Executives from three production companies say they won't film in Georgia because of the state's "heartbeat" abortion ban.

Blown Deadline Productions (producer of HBO's The Deuce), Killer Films (First Reformed, Carol, and Vox Lux), Colorforce (Crazy Rich Asians, American Crime Story), CounterNarrative Films (Netflix's Triple Frontier), and Duplass Brothers Productions (Safety Not Guaranteed, Room 104) are all pledging to boycott the state.

Taking a cue from the literature of ancient Greece, actress and political activist Alyssa Milano called for a "sex strike" Friday in response to the "heartbeat" bill that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp recently signed into law.

"No bill that criminalizes abortion will stop anyone from making this incredibly personal choice, but these laws will put more women at risk..."

The Motion Picture Association of America, which represents the major studios, has taken a more cautious approach, however, saying that it is "monitoring developments".

"We will not back down", Kemp said during the ceremony.

The study which was issued in November 2000, states that women who usually have abortions are likely to be unprepared to provide emotional or financial stability that a child needs to be successful. And now other states are considering similar proposed legislation, like Virginia, in which the governor even promoted infanticide.

While states like NY pass horrific extreme abortion laws and states like Kansas strike down common-sense pro-life laws in order to allow dismemberment abortions, the state of Georgia has taken the righteous stand to protect babies from the moment a heartbeat is detected.

I might agree with the governor, if he were actually willing to do the hard work of looking after the youngsters he demands be born.

"Film and television production in Georgia supports more than 92,000 jobs and brings significant economic benefits to communities and families", an MPAA spokesperson told the outlet.

Blue states including NY, meanwhile, have undertaken radically different legislation that would permit abortions into the third term of pregnancy, when an infant is typically fully developed. Heartbeat bills have already become law in MS and Kentucky.

The state laws directly challenge a woman's right to an abortion as established by the 1973 supreme court decision in Roe v Wade, and are expected to be struck down by the courts.
