Los Angeles Lakers might hire this Sixers coach to replace Luke Walton

Two days into the offseason and the Lakers are down a team president and a head coach as the franchise continues to struggle to right itself almost seven years after the Dwight Howard-Steve Nash experiment went bust. Walton was an assistant at Golden State for two seasons before taking the helm in Los Angeles.

"I said today on Undisputed that it felt like Jeanie Buss would dig in and keep Luke Walton, to spite Magic and LeBron". Johnson attributed his decision in part to his desire and reluctance to fire Walton, who is close to Lakers owner Jeanie Buss.

"We would like to thank Luke for his dedicated service over the last three years", said Lakers' General Manager Rob Pelinka in the official release. "We wish Luke and his family the best of luck moving forward".

The Luke Walton era in Los Angeles is over.

Don't forget, Lue spent his first three seasons as a player with the Lakers winning a couple of rings in the process in 2000 and 2001. Walton and Divac were teammates in Divac's final National Basketball Association season with the Lakers in 2004-05. Collectively, Lakers players missed more than 210 games due to injuries and the team used more than 25 different starting lineups this season. He believed too much that who he was, Magic Johnson, was more than enough.

His RBI single in the sixth drove in the Yankees' first run of the series that did not score on a homer. Jonathan Villar has two homers, one triple, one double, and four RBIs over his last four games.

Walton and Divac are reportedly now in the late stages of finalizing a multi-year agreement for the head coaching position.

Despite everything, the Lakers went 15-8 in their 23 games with James, Ingram and Ball all healthy.

As a coach, however, it never seemed to be stable with Walton at the helm.

The 39-year-old Walton, who played at UA from 1999 to 2003, had coached the Lakers since 2016.
