Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, finalised the biggest divorce settlement in history on Thursday, leaving him with 75% of their stock in the tech giant and giving her almost $36 billion in shares. By the looks of it, MacKenzie Bezos is going to be worth a minimum of $35 billion.
Although the duo did not provide further financial details about the settlement, Amazon shares will make MacKenzie the world's third-richest woman as Jeff remains the world's richest person. In a tweet announcing the divorce settlement, the latter revealed that Jeff would keep 75 percent of their Amazon stock and all of their ownership of The Washington Post and the Blue Origin Space company. His net worth is an estimated $110 billion.
Furthermore, MacKenzie Bezos' decision to surrender her shares' voting rights, although likely made in an effort to maintain shareholder confidence in the company, probably devalued her cut, Pollock said.
Mr Bezos tweeted: "I'm so grateful to all my friends and family for reaching out with encouragement and love..."
