Thomas was signed to a four-year, $55 million deal, per reports from the NFL. He returned before regular season started and posted three interceptions in the first four games before suffering a season-ending broken leg.

Thomas made six Pro Bowls in his nine seasons with the Seahawks and was named first-team All-Pro three times. Ingram is 29 years old.

Although he was not able to show it last season, Thomas remains one of the best safeties in the NFL.

While with the Saints, Ingram posted top-15 numbers in four straight seasons from 2014-2017, something that should've been expected given the high-scoring nature of the offense.

The Ravens privately like that Thomas has an edge and will play with something to prove. It could also help the Dallas defense take a step forward in 2019.

Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints agreed to a contract with Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray.

Free agents Cole Beasley and John Brown agree Buffalo moves
However, his numbers took a serious hit once Lamar Jackson became the Ravens' starting quarterback over Joe Flacco . One of the NFL's best slot receivers, veteran Cole Beasley , agreed on Tuesday to sign with the Buffalo Bills .

The Packers and Lions could both use a runner of Ingram's caliber and experience, too.

Thomas has spent the entirety of his nine-year National Football League career with the Seahawks, and prior to Wednesday was the team's longest-tenured player.

For his career, Ingram has rushed for 6,007 yards and 50 touchdowns, and caught 228 passes for 1,590 yards and five TDs.

Ingram is more accomplished than the Ravens' other two backs, though, and he has a longer history of durability.

Signing Earl Thomas seemingly came out of nowhere, but it turns out that it was a pivotal signing considering what the Baltimore Ravens lost. The focus is on the running game - and even if the boost he provides is minor, Ingram fortifies talent and depth in the backfield.
