You'll need a Pixel phone to run Android Q. Any model will work, including the original Pixel and Pixel XL that Google released in 2016. There are many other features part of Android Q beta 1 and possibly more will be added in the future beta version of the platform.

Google is said to be releasing six beta editions of this Android Q and the second one is scheduled to be rolled out in April while the third one will be rolled out in May. Once done, you will receive the build over-the-air.

Android Q is a beta and as such, it's likely buggy. You can use the Android Emulator and download the latest emulator system images via the SDK Manager in Android studio. Right now, when you grant an app location access, there is no quick on/off toggle for when the app isn't being used. The search giant will be giving more details on Android Q at the keynote event, followed by the official name unveiling later this year. The 12 different apps identified by the firm all use a data-scraping software development kit (SDK) and in total they have been downloaded 111m times. If so, you can now give Android Q a try. So if you are using a ride share app you can let it track your location while it's in use, but forbid the app from learning your location data when not. With Android Q, the user will have the option to give an app permission to use location all the time, only when the app is in use, or never. Google has worked with smartphone makers like Samsung and Huawei in building their own foldables. Thus, you'll be able to unlock your phone and access secure apps like Google Pay on properly equipped phones. We should hear more on that in the upcoming betas. While there aren't any major consumer facing features yet, there are a few things of note, primarily with a focus on privacy.

With Android Q, apps can request a Dynamic Depth image which has a JPEG, XMP metadata that is related to depth related elements and confidence map embedded in the same of the device to advertising support. The Android Q Beta 1 is aimed towards the developers for testing their apps for the new version of Android.

There are two ways to test Android Q on your Pixel, and both are pretty easy. The beta build can be installed on the Pixel devices by enrolling in the Android Beta Program first. The first four betas will be for testing purposes while betas 5 & 6 are intended release candidates, which are the final beta versions of the completed software update.
