James Corden pulls the ultimate prank on David Beckham

Soccer legend David Beckham, an owner of MLS expansion club Inter Miami CF, recently had the Los Angeles Galaxy cement his legacy to that club with a statue depicting him.

David Beckham said he laughed and nearly cried after an unflattering statue of him was unveiled as part of a James Corden-inspired prank.

Beckham, 43, was all set to receive a commemorative statue just outside the LA Galaxy stadium, and Corden jumped on the opportunity to commission a fake statue of the soccer star, one that emphasized his chin and derriere in a rather unflattering manner.

The prank began when actors posed as annoying fans during a meet and greet.

Corden stepped up his devious plan a notch when he had comedian Maz Jobrani dress up as sculptor Omri Amrany and have him remove a blue satin sheet from his "artwork".

Lions reach 4-year deal with CB Justin Coleman
Detroit on Monday inked ex-Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James, according to the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports the Lions' offer was " significantly better " than the Pats'.

"It's slightly different than what it was when I saw it in Chicago", the dismayed star says at one point.

When it comes time for the big reveal, Corden laughs uncontrollably as Beckham's face drops when he sees the statue, which appears to be a wink to fellow footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's infamous statue. "I mean, look at my chin?" It doesn't look anything like me though, look at my eyes! The only thing that is good is the hair, look at my arse. "If my kids were to see this I think they would just cry to be honest". My parents are coming over from London, my wife.

Beckham soon became visibly upset and begged the crew to turn the cameras off.

The final phase of the prank saw a forklift driver arriving to move the statue to its permanent home - and "accidentally" tip it over, smashing it to pieces.
