Supermoon, 2019’s Biggest and Brightest, to Light up Sky Tuesday

On 19 February, skygazers in the United Kingdom will be treated to the biggest and brightest full moon of 2019, dubbed the Super Snow Moon.

Just two months into 2019 and it's already time for the biggest supermoon of the year. This February's Super Moon's centre will be 356.846 kilometres from the Earth's.

A supermoon happens when a full moon or a new moon when the moon is at its closest to Earth.

The Supermoon will be visible at its peak at Tuesday morning at 10:54 am Eastern Standard Time in the US.

EarthSky explains that all of these full moons are less than 362,000 km distant as measured from the centers of the Earth and moon.

The next supermoon will take place on March 21, just four hours after the March equinox-when day and night are the same length, with days in the northern Hemisphere getting longer thereafter.

The moon will rise around 5.20 p.m.in Kolkata, 6 p.m.in Delhi, 6:05 p.m.in Chennai, and 6.30 p.m.in Mumbai.
