He clearly uses the word WAR (מלחמה), but his statement could be interpreted as "in order to advance the shared interest in war vs. Iran" OR "in order to advance the shared interest in fighting/combating Iran".

The comments were made to reporters on the sidelines of the Warsaw Middle East ministerial following Netanyahu's meeting with the Sultanate of Oman's Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Yusuf bin Alawi.

Foreign ministers and other officials from more than 60 countries were gathering for the conference in Warsaw, which starts Wednesday evening and whose agenda includes Iran, conflicts in Syria, Yemen and Israeli-Palestinian peace. "Iran swore to destroy Israel since the Islamic Revolution 40 years ago and for the last few years they've been shooting at each other in Syria", he added.

Wednesday's conference is co-hosted by the US and Poland and its official focus is Mideast peace and security.

On Wednesday, Netanyahu boasted of the strong ties Israel is building with Arab countries in the region.

Speaking to Netanyahu, bin Alawi said: "People in the Middle East have suffered a lot because they have stuck to the past".

Washington initially touted the summit as a way to counter Iran's influence in the region, drawing condemnations from Tehran and leading several nations to send lower-ranking officials instead of their top representatives. "Now we say, this is a new era, for the future".

Iran has also ramped up its rhetoric against Israel, promising to wipe it off the political map.

Pompeo spoke amid tensions with the European Union over Washington's decision to pull out of world powers' 2015 nuclear deal with Iran deal and its sudden announcement to withdraw American troops from Syria.

Before broadening the agenda, the USA initially told allies the meeting would focus on Iran, a bête noire for national security adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, both of whom have advocated for regime change in Tehran in the past. "But Netanyahu and Gulf countries are eager to focus on Iran".

The meeting prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin to call his own summit with representatives from Iran and Turkey, which is set to take place in Sochi on Thursday.
