Professional soccer player Emiliano Sala's death was caused by injuries to his head and body, a coroner confirmed Monday.

Southampton have said they will ban any supporters found to have made indecent gestures towards Cardiff City fans mocking the death of Emiliano Sala during Saturday's Premier League match at St Mary's Stadium.

The Dorset Police confirmed Thursday that Sala, who was in the process of completing a transfer from FC Nantes to Cardiff City FC, had been identified by HM Coroner almost three weeks after his plane went missing after departing from Nantes, France. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) discovered the wreckage of the aircraft last week, and also found a body on the seabed.

Sala, 28, had signed for English Premier League side Cardiff City, and was flying to his new team from his old club Nantes in France when his plane went missing over the Channel on January 21.

Cardiff City canceled the club's trip to Tenerife for a mid-season break so the players could mourn striker Emiliano Sala's death with their families, manager Neil Warnock has said.

Many expressed outrage that he clumsily asked the family why they wanted Ibbotson's body back, sparking a flurry of angry tweets about his insensitivity.

Brendan Allen, acting senior coroner for Dorset, adjourned proceedings in Bournemouth until November 6, for a pre-inquest review.
