The deal called for him to receive $1.5 million after approval last summer by Major League Baseball and $3.16 million on March 1. According to ESPN, the 2018 Heisman Trophy victor will return $1.29 million of the $1.5 million signing bonus money the A's gave him in 2018. The A's will put him on the restricted list and retain Murray's rights, but they won't get a compensatory draft pick.
The Oklahoma Heisman victor and National Football League draft entry (and apparently no longer the A's outfield prospect) has picked Erik Burkhardt as his agent. Mike Axisa has already detailed with Murray's decision means for the A's in the present.
Quoting a source from within the Giants, Vacchiano said that the team views Murray as "probably a little too small for them". And that meant Murray would miss the beginning of MLB Spring Training to prepare for the combine, a sure sign that he had picked football for his future.
Murray, 21, was drafted ninth overall by Major League Baseball side Oakland Athletics in June a year ago.
What do you think of his decision? Murray used super agent Scott Boras for his baseball negotiations, but needed to hire someone well-versed on the football side of things.

"Of all the coaches, he was the only one to say, 'Bring the tape, we're going to break down the tape, ' " Bidwill said. He can make every throw, and he does it with timing, touch and poise. But at least one team that could really use a quarterback appears poised to take a hard pass on the Heisman trophy victor. That's when Kliff Kingsbury complimented him to the point that he said he would take him 1st overall in the National Football League draft. I've never seen one better in high school and he's starting to show it now at the college level.
