Winter storm expected Tuesday

A storm that could bring "significant" snow, freezing rain and strong winds is expected to sweep through Toronto on Tuesday, Environment Canada said in a special weather statement on Sunday. Snow will change briefly to ice pellets, with 2 to 5 cm accumulation, before changing to freezing rain.

Afternoon highs will reach the low 40s for everyone.

Then, heavier rain will arrive on Tuesday morning, continuing until about 2PM. The sky will remain cloudy through tonight, with a chance of scattered showers as an east-southeast wind returns.
