As Sergio Aguero made his way towards referee Mike Dean to collect the match ball for his hat-trick, as is tradition, Dean hid it up his jumper, as is not tradition.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and captain Cesar Azpilicueta have both apologised after their side's 6-0 defeat at Manchester City. With that hat hatrick, AGUERO has now rqualled Alan SBEARER's record of 11 Premier League hat tricks.

The Blues have now slipped to sixth in the Premier League table, below Arsenal on goal difference.

The Blues were walloped by the champions at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, suffering their worst ever Premier League defeat in the process.

Raheem Sterling scored twice and Ilkay Gundogan also netted.

Aguero started the game by missing an open goal but made up for it with a fine long-range effort before a close range volley handed him another City record, while a second-half penalty gave him his hat-trick.

"I'm worried about my team, I'm worried about the performance, [but] my job is always at risk, so I'm not worried about that", Sarri said.

"At the beginning we played better away than at home, now we play better at home, so something has changed and I am not able to see the reason, so I have to work for this", Sarri continued.

Silverware could still be collected in two weeks. The loss left them outside the Champions League places and the pressure is mounting on manager Sarri.

Pep Guardiola had described this match as a "final" for his side given that Chelsea had a week to prepare, while City ground out a 2-0 win at Everton on Wednesday. "We are lucky to score three from the first four actions".

Chelsea was un-picked after only four minutes. Kevin De Bruyne released Bernardo Silva down the right with a cleverly-taken free-kick and the Portuguese cut back for Sterling to smash home.

"I know exactly what he (Sarri) wants to do", Guardiola said. "But, after, his reaction was a little bit better".

Aguero is now the outright highest goalscorer for City, where he has overtaken Eric Brook and Tommy Johnson's 158 top flight goals for the club.

Aguero was substituted on 64 minutes with Gabriel Jesus coming on.

But Chelsea do not show much patience with failing managers and the current incumbent was skating on thin ice before his team were dismantled by City.

But the 3-1 scoreline against Leicester didn't reflect the nerviness for Tottenham.

Jamie Vardy, having been dropped from the starting lineup, was summoned from the bench only to miss the spot kick with his first touch.
