Fans of The Walking Dead have long feared that Danai Gurira would one day exit The Walking Dead after she matched starring in the biggest series on cable television with starring in the biggest movie at the box office past year, Black Panther.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will then move on to work on the previously announced series of "Walking Dead" movies alongside Lincoln.

Andrew Lincoln's exit from The Walking Dead was, as fans know, a rather long and drawn-out process, but viewers are now facing up to the prospect of another long-standing cast favourite saying their goodbyes.

Under her new deal, Gurira will return in a limited capacity - described as only a handful of episodes - that will be interspersed throughout season 10. Last season, Lennie James' Morgan became a part of the show, joining series stars Colman Domingo, Garret Dillahunt, Danay Garcia, Jenna Elfman, Alycia Debnam-Carter, Alexa Nisenson, Maggie Grace, Mo Collins, Daryl Mitchell.

In addition to starring in The Walking Dead, Danai Gurira is an accomplished playwright and social activist. "We love Danai; we love that character".

AMC has not commented on her departure from the show yet.

"We really want her to stay". She is an incredibly valuable character and I'm really hoping she stays.

The report also mentions she won't be around much.
