Investigators said they are pursuing additional evidence that might lead them to charge other suspects in the case.

Jazmine was killed after a gunman fired into the auto that she was riding in with her mother and siblings at around 6:50 a.m. Sunday, officials said.

Jazmine's mother, LaPorsha Washington, was also shot and injured.

Merritt told The Washington Post on Sunday that he believes Woodruffe is also black. Black was taken into custody in East Harris County without incident.

The prosecutor said the anonymous source who tipped off the police identified Larry W.by name and described him as a black male.

Prosecutors charged 20-year-old Eric Black Jr.in the December 30 death of Jazmine Barnes.

Jazmine's family, a local chapter of Black Lives Matter and others have said they believe the shooting was racially motivated.

Officials say the 20 year old has admitted to taking part in the shooting; however, investigators believe there are more suspects at large.

The sheriff's office believes that shooting was likely the case of mistaken identity and the intended targets were likely someone else.

They said a confidential source told the Harris County Sheriff's Office the suspects had "shot the vehicle by mistake". Three other children were in the vehicle at the time. Until then, they are keeping Black's role in the case under wraps.

Gonzalez said Sunday that one of King's tips "provided a much different angle to what we were initially looking at", alluding to the fact authorities initially said the suspect was a white man in his 40s driving a red pickup truck. Police have not said anything about a second arrest. At some point, as the red traffic signal turned they started going.

But he said investigators concluded that the red truck had merely passed by Jazmine's family vehicle just before the shooting.

Jazmine's dad Chris Sevilla said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that he was feeling "a bit of relief" following the arrest. Police say they found marijuana in the vehicle.

Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee echoed that theory at a rally Saturday. Investigators are still trying to verify information related to the second person, Gonzalez said, but he declined to say whether anyone was in police custody, citing the pending investigation. Individuals with revelatory information are thereby encouraged to dial 713-222-TIPS or 713-221-6000 if they have anything of soluble details that would better their investigative efforts. On Thursday, Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins tweeted that he would donate his check from Saturday's NFL Wild Card playoff game to help pay for Jazmine's funeral costs.

Basketball great Shaquille O'Neal and a Houston police officer stepped up to pay for the girl's funeral.
