The Captain & Tennille’s Daryl Dragon Dead at 76

Fans have paid tribute to Daryl Dragon, who served as one-half of the popular music duo Captain and Tennille in the '70s, who died aged 76 on Wednesday at a hospice in Prescott, Ariz.

' Love Will Keep Us Together, ' the title track from the duo's 1975 debut album, reached No. 1 in the US in July of 1975 and won the top Record of the Year prize at the following year's Grammy Awards. They also briefly starred in their own television variety show before their careers faded in the 1980s. "I was at my most creative in my life when I was with him", Tennille said in a statement to Fox News.

Dragon and Tennille divorced in 2014, after being married for 39 years.

Beginning in the late '60s, Dragon was the keyboard player for The Beach Boys. The band's Mike Love was the source of his nautical nickname, because of the type of hats he often wore onstage.

In a statement, it was reported his ex-wife and musical partner Toni Tennille was with Daryl when he died.

Tennille was at Dragon's side when he passed away, Boll said.
