Dwyane Wade & LeBron James Share Emotional Goodbye

LeBron James and Dwayne Wade will step onto the basketball court together for the last time tonight as the Miami Heat visit the Los Angeles Lakers.

And as a sign of respect, the Lakers made a tribute video in Wade's honor.

Wade played what was likely his final game against James.

This year is Wade's farewell tour and tonight is the second and final meeting between the Lakers and Heat.

James put up 28 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.

With the clock ticking down, LeBron switched onto Wade, forcing his former teammate into an off-balance attempt from beyond the arc that bounced off the glass.

"I appreciate you letting it end here", said Wade.

"Whether we were team-mates or whether we were opponents, we brought the best out of each other. I just wanted to enjoy the competition for the last time".

The feeling was mutual for the Lakers forward, who said: "We did it our way and it was a great unbelievable ride for 16 years".

"I knew that at some point in the game, it was going to hit me that this was the last time we were competing against each other", Wade said. "But it just showed the kind of friendship we have, with him coming".

James and Wade post-game. A three-time NBA champion (with three NBA Finals MVPs) as well, James has been to the NBA Finals eight consecutive times and counting with two different teams. He merely said that a Wade versus James final duel could only be battled out at The Staples Center, or at Madison Square Garden.

"Individually, I think I would still be doing my thing individually, but as far as me accomplishing the team goals that truly mean most to me?"

The win saw the Sixers improve to 19-9 to hold onto the third place in the Eastern Conference, two games back from leaders Toronto. It goes without saying. "But I'm going to miss the shit out of this".

The Lakers are now 16-10 while the Heat, without several stars but having won four of five including back-to-back wins over the Suns and Clippers, are 11-14.

LeBron James and Dwyane Wade played their final National Basketball Association game against each other on Monday at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
