US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert is expected to be President Donald Trump's nominee for the United States ambassador to the United Nations, according to media reports.
Heather Nauert whgo could be UN Envoy, did not immediately respond to request for comment.
Ahead of the vote, the U.S. ambassador sent a letter to all UN missions to make clear that "the United States takes the outcome of this vote very seriously".
Nauert became the state department spokeswoman in April 2017 and this year was named the acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs. Trump is expected to announce the nomination on Friday.
A former news reporter for ABC, she joined Fox in 1996, originally as a correspondent and later as a co-host for Fox and Friends.
Numerous reports in the United States media - the first of which appeared in Bloomberg news - said Nauert would be nominated Friday, citing sources close to the matter.
Two administration officials confirmed Trump's plans.

However, Nato allies would have to agree unanimously to have any new missile deployed in Europe. Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said the US ultimatum was an "escalation of the situation".
Haley surprised White House officials in October when she said she would resign by the end of year, citing the need for a break after two terms as governor and two years at the UN.
Trump had previously said Nauert was under serious consideration to replace Haley, though he's been known to change course on staffing in the past.
She would be taking the position amid a roster of thorny global challenges, ranging from North Korea's nuclear program to Yemen's starvation and the growing divide between the United States and its closest allies over the Iran nuclear deal, climate change and other issues.
"If Nauert is nominated and approved, people will be interested to see whether she's willing and able to do the diplomatic toil or whether she will see this as an extension of the spokesman position and focus more on presentation of U.S. position before the Security Council", said Gowan.
Trump had reportedly also been considering ex-White House aide Dina Powell, US Ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell, and US Canada Ambassador Kelly Croft for the job.
Haley took a particularly forceful posture against Russian Federation, assailing the Kremlin at United Nations security council meetings over its aggression in Ukraine and support for Bashar al-Assad in Syria, even as Trump remained reluctant to criticize Vladimir Putin.
