The day before, Prince William and Kate hosted a Christmas party for families from RAF Coningsby and RAF Marham who have a relative deployed in Cyprus. Kate was quick with her response: "You're a nightmare with that!"

Speaking to assembled personnel, the Duke paid tribute to the 11,000 personnel now serving overseas and on operations, who will be spending time away from their families at Christmas.

The party was held as part of two days of engagements with RAF families as a way of saying thank you to 7,500 military personnel now serving overseas or away from home.

Prince George had some adorably proud words for his dad Prince William before his trip to Cyprus on Tuesday!

Laughing, he added: "George said "if you see a see a helicopter take a picture for me".

The couple also greeted the crowds waiting for them, which included some family members. A large portion of them have children who will have a parent away over the festive period.

As artificial snow fell around them the two me exchanged snowballs and Kate even found herself the target of a playful attack.
