Bulls fire coach Fred Hoiberg; Jim Boylen takes over

Hoiberg had been the Bulls' head coach since June 2015. The Bulls, as they've been all season, were undermanned, already decimated by injuries by that seventh game. At least then, perhaps GarPax could have had some idea what direction they wanted to go in with this team.

After this brain trust fired Thibodeau and brought in Hoiberg, Fred would have been well served to give them a compass as a thank you gift.

"If you don't think competitive spirit is important for an organization or basketball team, then you're wrong", Paxson said. He did a lot of good things for us.

I'm starting to wonder whether "Gar" is short for Garfield, as this cat has had more than nine lives.

Luka Modric wins Ballon d'Or
Marca use Modric's quote of: 'My dream since childhood was to be a player in a great team, the Ballon d'Or is more than a dream'. France Football magazine has been awarding the Ballon d'Or since 1956, and created a women's award for the first time this year.

Kensington Palace Breaks Silence After Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Feud Rumors
According to MacFarlane, Middleton "already felt put upon in being asked to host Meghan and Harry". The last time Prince William spent Christmas with his in-laws was in 2016.

The hope was that the freewheeling style Hoiberg used with the Cyclones would work in the National Basketball Association and that he would fare better than another former Iowa State coach, Tim Floyd, who went 49-190 in three-plus seasons with the Bulls.

The team had made the playoffs in seven straight seasons before Hoiberg's arrival but missed the postseason in two of his first three years. Most recently on the collegiate level, he was head coach at the University of Utah, where he led the Utes to the 2009 NCAA Tournament. With 33 years of coaching experience, that includes 20 seasons in the NBA, Boylen has been a part of three NBA Championship teams. After two seasons in Indianapolis, he moved to San Antonio under coach Gregg Popovich and helped the Spurs reach the NBA Finals twice, winning one. It was not immediately clear if the Bulls will ask him to coach under that deal or whether he will negotiate a longer-term extension. The decision was wrong because Bulls' ownership allowed Gar Forman and John Paxson to make it.

Coincidentally, another Jim Boylan - different spelling - landed the interim head coaching job when Paxson fired Skiles.

Rumors have been swirling around the Chicago Bulls brass for a couple seasons now on whether or not a coaching change was coming, that day finally came.
