"We are sorry to share the news that the #WoolseyFire has burned Western Town at #ParamountRanch in Agoura", tweeted the official handle of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation service. The set is one of the main filming locations for the HBO series.

The National Park Service says it has no details or photos but the structures that formed Old West facades are believed to have burned on Friday.

The Malibu, Calabasas, and Agoura areas are all being evacuated due to the Woolsey fire.

Unfortunately, as a result of the Woolsey fire, the set has burned down at Paramount Ranch.

HBO released a statement: "Paramount Ranch was one of the locations used during seasons one and two of "Westworld, ' in addition to the primary location at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita".

Paramount Ranch was purchased by Paramount Pictures in 1927 and the old western town was to be used as a "movie ranch". The big wildfire here in Southern California, known as the "Woolsey Fire", quadrupled in size by Friday evening, covering more than 22 square miles, with no containment.

'Westworld is not now in production, and as the area has been evacuated, we do not yet know the extent of the damage to any structures remaining there'.

One of HBO's most popular shows, Westworld has a cast of big names including Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton and Ed Harris that won the network nine Emmys. HBO said it did not know the extent of the damage and expressed concern for "all those affected by these frightful fires".

In earlier times, television companies produced "The Cisco Kid" and "Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater" at the town, according to the recreation area's website. At least nine people died in or near their homes or vehicles as they tried to outrace the "Camp Fire" that started on Thursday morning, has devastated the mountain town of Paradise, about 90 miles north of the state capital, Sacramento.
