The voice attributed to a Saudi forensic evidence chief also suggests that others witnessing Khashoggi's harrowing fate listened to music in order to drown out the sounds.

A Democratic lawmaker at the US House of Representatives is reportedly planning to introduce a bill that bans Saudi Arabia from acquiring nuclear weapons in retaliation for the regime's murder of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist who was critical of the Saudi government and its Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, vanished from the Saudi consulate on October 2.

Khashoggi's body has not been found, more than a month after he was killed.

It is not yet clear when Sherman's bill will come up for a vote in Congress but the report said it wasn't going to come to the floor any sooner than January 3, when the new Democratic-controlled House of Representatives convenes.

Meanwhile, the reporter's sons have issued desperate pleas to find their father's body so that they can give him a proper burial and receive closure.
