One Norwegian news outlet reports that according to tracking data, the frigate's geolocation system was turned off at the time of the collision, noting, however, that the armed forces of Norway have neither confirmed nor denied that.

Norway's military says the 127-man crew on a Navy frigate has been evacuated after the ship was rammed by a Malta-flagged tanker while docked in a Norwegian harbour.

The tanker, which was carrying a crew of 23, was returned to port for an inspection.

The Trident Juncture 18 event are the biggest North Atlantic Treaty Organisation exercises since the Cold War in the 1980s.

The company is in a dialogue with Norwegian authorities and has mobilized emergency resources to assist the police and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre.

These included the Sture export oil terminal, the Kollsnes gas plant and several offshore oilfields, all of which resumed operation later this afternoon. The tanker, the Sola TS, was slightly damaged but it appears that it did not spill oil. The Ingstad has rolled over onto her starboard side but remains in shallow water.

The Equinor Sture oil shipment terminal, from which the oil tanker left fully loaded, was closed as a precautionary measure but reopened Thursday.

Norway's Accident Investigation Board, which has opened an inquiry, had initially said a tugboat had also been involved in the collision but the Navy later denied that.
