Mullens, who began the season on the 49ers' practice squad, connected with Pierre Garcon from 24 yards out in the first quarter, Kendrick Bourne from 4 yards in the second period and George Kittle from 5 yards in the third quarter en route to a 16-for-22, 262-yard performance.

Heading into the second quarter is was the same script that we saw in the first quarter and really all season long: the Raiders defense is just terrible.

Mullens got the start after C.J. Beathard was declared unable to go due to thumb and wrist injuries after Thursday's pregame warmup.

With San Francisco leading 31-3, most of the eyes in the stadium were removed from the field of play.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Nick Mullens threw a pass against the Oakland Raiders during the first half in Santa Clara, Calif., Thursday.

He is one of only two quarterbacks since 2000 to throw a touchdown pass on each of his team's first two possessions in his National Football League debut. Nothing seems to be going the Raiders' way this season.

Hillary Clinton on possible run in 2020: 'I'd like to be president'
While many Indian immigrants in the U.S. run convenience stores, their portrayal has been under fire as a crude racial stereotype. Maybe Clinton was even clowning Swisher for her apparent ignorance. "Tweeps, simmer down", she tweeted .

"I know it's not looking pretty right now", Gruden admitted after the game.

What's worse is that quarterback Derek Carr hasn't been that bad.

An NFL cheerleader knelt for the National Anthem before a San Francisco 49ers game, apparently marking a first for the organization. McCarron was sacked once behind a banged-up offensive line.

It is going to be a tough road ahead for Gruden, Carr and the rest of the silver and black.

The 49ers outgained the Raiders 405-242 in a game that had no turnovers.

The real test for San Francisco will be if they can build on their success against the Raiders. They'll have a chance to pick up some momentum versus NY before traveling to Tampa Bay.
