Early this morning, NY police received a call about a suspicious package sent to Robert De Niro's restaurant Tribeca Grill.

All the packages were removed, and there were no reports of injuries.

Meanwhile, a USA postal official says investigators looking for other package bombs have found nothing in the last 8 hours.

The package sent to the actor also had the same return address as the others: that of Democratic US Rep.

The packages were discovered during "routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such", the agency said in a statement.

"The protectees did not receive the packages nor were they at risk of receiving them", it said. The Secret Service intercepted the package last night.

A device addressed to former President Obama's home in Washington D.C. was intercepted by Secret Service.

The New York package was addressed to "James Robert Clapper Time Warner (CNN)", according to a photo of the package obtained by CBS New York station WCBS-TV.

George Soros: A suspicious package found Monday appeared to be an explosive device targeting the billionaire investor and philanthropist.

The device was reportedly similar to ones recently sent to former President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and others.

Multiple suspected explosive devices were found in the mail addressed to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and CNN's NY newsroom on Wednesday.

Now, the package addressed to former Attorney General Eric Holder didn't make it to his office.

A spokesman said police were called for a report of a suspicious package at the location around 5 a.m.

Other packages have been addressed to a former USA attorney general, two Democratic Party members of Congress and former Central Intelligence Director John Brennan.

And, just as the other packages, the one sent to De Niro had six American-flag stamps arrayed in two rows.

"This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI". The Clintons have lived in Chappaqua, about 48 km north of New York City, since former President Clinton left office in 2001. The New York device was black and had wires. Trump also often singles out CNN as he rails against the "fake news" media.

Specifically, he said, the X-ray shows only one set of batteries for the timer.

At least five packages discovered this week all had a similar return address: Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but with her name misspelled. "That is the only thing I can conclude at this point", said the actor's spokesperson. The White House said it condemned the "attempted violent attacks".

"Any acts or threats of political violence are an attack on our democracy itself".

A series of pipe bombs sent to prominent Democrats including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has deepened political tensions and fears two weeks before national midterm elections.

But Trump is facing criticism for his rhetoric against Democrats and the media over how his words could lead to violence against those he has attacked.
