Former England manager Glenn Hoddle seriously ill in hospital


Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has been hospitalised after he took ill on his 61st birthday on Saturday.

Hoddle had been due to appear on BT Sport Score this afternoon but that show has been cancelled as a result.

BT presenter Jake Humphrey said Hoddle was "taken seriously ill at the BT Sport studio this morning".

Gary Lineker, the Match of the Day presenter and former Tottenham and England striker, posted on social media: "Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier". Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love & strength.

Hoddle, who began his career with Tottenham Hotspur and also played for Chelsea and Monaco, works as a pundit for the broadcaster.

And Hoddle's colleagues at the network were among those to send well wishes to him. "All our thoughts are with Glenn Hoddle and his family". Thoughts are with him and his family.
