McGregor had been pulled back into the Octagon after trying to follow his victorious opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov into a fight in the crowd.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov says he hopes he didn't "hurt anyone's feelings" in a post to social media for his jump over the octagon, and subsequent brawl after his UFC 229 win over Conor McGregor.

A rematch between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov is reportedly in the works with the Irishman hoping to get his revenge in front of home fans in Dublin.

While UFC president Dana White was left disappointed with the post-fight melee, Khabib has apologised to the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his behaviour. "But [McGregor] talked about my religion, my country, my father".

The commission is withholding Nurmagomedov's $2 million fight purse.

U.S. Senate plans procedural vote on Kavanaugh in bitter confirmation fight
Speaking to reporters after reviewing the FBI report, Collins said it "appears to be a very thorough investigation". No Republicans have said they will vote against Kavanaugh, although four have not committed to supporting him.

Five other fighters on the card earned $100,000 or more in disclosed salaries.

The main event could have easily gone down as one of the best fights in the history of UFC if not for the chaotic post-match brawl.

McGregor crowed when Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the champion's beloved father and a longtime wrestling coach, couldn't attend UFC 229 because he couldn't secure a U.S. visa in time.

The man holding that title now, the unbeaten Khabib Nurmagomedov, is one of the most unsafe fighters in the world and someone who has draw the ire of McGregor as of late. The UFC 229 scene also recalled Floyd Mayweather's fight with Zab Judah in 2006, in which the fighters' trainers brawled in the ring between rounds and almost set off a riot; the post-fight fracas between entourages and fans at heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe's fight with Andrew Golota in 1996; and a Strikeforce MMA show in Nashville in 2010 which ended with a post-fight brawl carried live on CBS.

It's still not clear, however, what ramifications Nurmagomedov will face.
