First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, has arrived on the first of her four-leg trip to Africa.

The First Lady of the United States of America, Melania Trump has donated a phototherapy machine to the Greater Accra Regional (Ridge) Hospital.

But unlike her predecessors, her visit will be followed closely to see if she can build bridges after the president reportedly dismissed Africa as a collection of "shithole countries".

The tour which is in line with her "Be Best" initiative also focuses on gender equality, with an emphasis on education as tool to combat inequality. The first lady, however, was not wearing a just-off-the-runway look from Celine's new creative director Hedi Slimane, according to her stylist Hervé Pierre.

She spent Tuesday morning visiting Ridge Hospital, noted NBC News, and the first lady greeted mothers and babies and passed out teddy bears and blankets. At an outdoor seating area where about ten mothers sat, Melania Trump picked up a chubby-cheeked baby and made faces at him, to the delight of the assembled mothers and hospital officials.
