Manchester City's Leroy Sane: I welcome Pep Guardiola criticism

The Blues narrowly beat Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Tuesday evening, with David Silva pouncing late on to secure his side their first points of the Champions League season.

Manchester United had to settle for a point after they played to a goalless draw with Valencia in their second Group H clash in the UEFA Champions League.

Silva poached the victor with just three minutes left and Guardiola was delighted with his team's fighting spirit and patience against Hoffenheim's dogged defending.

City hit back nearly immediately when Silva's pass split the Hoffenheim defence and found Leroy Sane who put Aguero into space to tap home the equaliser on eight minutes.

"Losing at home (to Lyon) made things tough and conceding so early (at Hoffenheim) was hard, but we fought against everything today", said Guardiola.

"But I think this team has always shown we are up for these kinds of games".

On the flanks, for me, I would play Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez, giving Raheem Sterling a rest for the upcoming Premier League fixture.

Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers cracked a pair of home runs and had four hits and six RBIs in a 19-3 rout over the Orioles. However, there's been a change of heart there. "We got four games and if we win three of them, we'll probably be in".

"We've come from a good result at the weekend and we're coming here to get the victory".

"We don't have history behind us". Over the past seven seasons, City have only got past the quarterfinals one time.

Guardiola, back on the sidelines after serving a one-match ban against Lyon, leaped off the bench in fury when City were denied a penalty when Baumann brought down Sane in full flight in the area. Referee Damir Skomina did not award the spot kick.

"There are things it is hard for me to say, I do not want to attract any more criticism for being too open", he said.

However, Silva popped up with the victor to delight City's travelling fans.

"I love players who make a step forward in the bad moments and say "OK I'm here guys". I've had a lot at Barca and Bayern but he's on that list.

"He is the sort of player who steps up in the hard moments and he deserves all of my respect".
