Google is Killing Inbox Because Nothing Gold Can Stay

The company has announced that it will stop supporting Inbox in March of 2019. Google has announced the Inbox is going away in March of next year.

Launched in 2014, Inbox by Gmail was introduced as an innovative new email app that lived alongside Gmail and served as an experimental platform for Google to try newer mailing features that could be incorporated in Gmail later.

Why it matters: Inbox by Google users will be disappointed to hear that the email client is being discontinued next year.

"As Gmail continues to improve, we're bringing the best features from Inbox". You could just use the pre-loaded labels like updates, purchases, trips, and so on, but Inbox supported custom labels as well.

We introduced the new Gmail in April this year, incorporating numerous same features you've come to love about Inbox plus newer features like Smart Compose, which helps you draft emails faster. The death of Inbox is not entirely out of the blue - numerous features that made it unique have become part of Gmail over the years.

They've complained that Inbox's handy features, like bundling of trip-related emails and GitHub/Trello notifications, haven't quite made their way to Gmail yet, and who knows if they will. In fact, most of its best features have, including Unified Inbox.

The service - which came in the form of iOS and Android apps and its own website - funneled mails from your Gmail account to a different, slightly more gesture-driven interface with its own unique set of options.
