Tesla's Elon Musk provoked another twitter storm on Friday by briefly smoking marijuana on a live web show with comedian Joe Rogan.

Musk also told Rogan that Tesla remains his focus, though he did ruminate aloud on a new idea to build an electric airplane that he thinks would be capable of taking off and landing vertically (VTOL), as Harrier jets do.

In an email to employees, CEO Elon Musk said Toledano was on leave to "spend more time with her family and has chose to continue doing so for personal reasons". The Palo Alto, California-based company faces concerns about its limited cash balance, maturing debt and struggle to steadily build high volumes of the Model 3 sedan, the first electric vehicle that Musk has attempted to mass-manufacture.

Over the course of the interview the men discussed a variety of topics including: the future of humanity and artificial intelligence, Tesla, SpaceX, Musk's controversial merchandising decision to produce 20,0000 flamethrowers at $500 a pop, human kindness and love.

Accounting chief David Morton reportedly resigned just a month after joining the company.

Mr Isaacs and the second plaintiff, William Chamberlain, have alleged that Tesla's stock price was artificially inflated and federal securities laws had been breached.

Over the past month, Musk has been embroiled in a series of controversies and media scandals surrounding his attempt to take Tesla private at $420 per share. Not long after, it was also reported the company's human resources chief Gaby Toledano won't be returning from leave.

Bloomberg also reported Tesla's chief people officer Gaby Toledano would not return from a holiday just over a year after joining. He took leave from the company in 2015 but rejoined to work on the Semi truck revealed in November of previous year .

Musk first called the diver Unsworth a "pedo" in a July tweet - an unfounded claim against a man who was part of the worldwide team that freed 12 young footballers and their coach from the Tham Luang cave complex. "As a result, this caused me to reconsider my future", Morton was quoted as saying in a company filing.

Almost a dozen top executives have left Tesla this year.

Morton's departure further roiled the company, which has been under heightened scrutiny since Musk's chaotic Twitter announcement on August 7 that he was considering taking Tesla private, before reversing the plan two weeks later.

"Given the feedback I've received, it's apparent that most of Tesla's existing shareholders believe we are better off as a public company", he wrote in a blog post published on the company's website.

The executive has had a few tough months in the news, culminating in a failed attempt to take Tesla public that led to a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation.

Tesla's board of directors is on the lookout for senior talent but is not actively searching for a chief operating officer, a person familiar with the board's thinking told Bloomberg News in August.

Earlier this week, Musk doubled down on an incendiary allegation against a British cave explorer who helped save 12 boys trapped in a flooded cavern in Thailand this summer.
