Miami Dolphins beat Tennessee Titans in longest game in National Football League history

The loss spoiled the National Football League head-coaching debut for Mike Vrabel in his first game at the helm with the team.

It lasted seven hours and eight minutes, including lightning delays of one hour and 57 minutes, and two hours and 10 minutes.

Marcus Mariota suffered an elbow injury after a second long weather delay for the Titans-Dolphins game and left the game.

A matchup between the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens in 2013 previously held the distance mantle, going five hours and 16 minutes before Chicago prevailed in the weather-delayed game at Soldier Field.

The game didn't resume until almost two hours later, when the AFC squads came onto the field to close the half.

Dolphins defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, a laid-back sort, didn't seem to mind. Linebacker Kiko Alonso also snagged one away from Tennessee that set up the Dolphins offense with excellent field position.

Tannehill hit Stills for a 75-yard touchdown to give Miami a 24-10 lead. The ball was also spread around to the wide receivers, making it easier for Ryan Tannehill to move the offense.

Tannehill threw two interceptions, and the Dolphins twice came up empty on possessions inside the Tennessee 20.

FRACAS: Lewan appeared to be briefly knocked out when flattened on Andre Branch's blindside block during an interception return by Reshad Jones. But it was enough, with Jones intercepting two passes, Jakeem Grant running back a 102-yard kickoff return for a score and Miami's run game working most of the game. Lewan sprawled face down on the turf, then suddenly sprang to his feet, and players exchanged words and shoves.

Mariota initially tried to play it off but was eventually replaced by quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the 27-20 loss to the Dolphins.
