Gomez, Shaw start for England as De Gea keeps his place

Spain captain Sergio Ramos and his team-mates want to seduce world football again after tumbling from the summit of the game as they begin a new era under coach Luis Enrique away to England in the Uefa Nations League today.

He said, "I'm not really concerned about that".

"I never wanted to hurt a colleague on the pitch, of course, so my conscience is really clear about what I did that night".

Yet, Enrique has remained steadfast in his stance that De Gea is still the best man for the job at this point in time as he told reporters, via ESPN: "I don't know what's going to happen in the future but that's a position I haven't had any doubts about".

"We have to evolve that idea, ideal it, make it even better, so we can surprise opponents and they don't know how we will play", he said upon taking over at Barcelona.

He might be glad that Madrid didn't get drawn against Liverpool in the Champions League, though. Sergio Ramos has already 2 goals for Julen Lopetegui's side so far in the league as he converted two penalties he received.

Luis Enrique will have shocked some with his starting XI for Saturday night's UEFA Nations League match against England, with just five players from the line-up against Russian Federation in the World Cup last 16 retaining their spot.

Their last outing was their shock elimination from the World Cup to Russian Federation on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the last 16. Spain made numerous defensive flaws which made it easier for the opponents to score.

"The fact we have been a reference over the past decade means that everyone knows our national team", he said.

Ramos said that it was the job of the current squad to restore Spain to the heights that saw them triumph in three consecutive global tournaments - the European championships of 2008 and 2012 and the World Cup of 2010.

Ramos said it has been an intense first week working with the new coach ahead of their opening Nations League game in League A, Group 4.
