Google Chrome gets slick new update for its 10th birthday

We first spotted evidence for this happening back in April.

For the last 24 hours, since the official rollout of the new Chrome 69, countless of users have gone on Twitter, Reddit, and the Google Product Forums [1, 2, 3, 4], to complain about "blurry" or "fuzzy" text inside Chrome.

Go download Chrome 69 for desktop, iOS, Android and view the changes yourself. But a palette swap and new icons aren't the only changes in Chrome's UI refresh. The look of the browser has been radically changed, with a massive UX change on iOS where the toolbar has now been moved to the bottom so it's way easier to reach.

Aside from fixing 40 security issues of varying severity (but none critical), Chrome 69 comes with an improved built-in password manager that automatically generates a random password when users sign up on a new website. Now you have to update Chrome to the latest version i.e. Chrome 69. Chrome for Android 69.0.3497.76 brings a clean and more modern design, secure and easy mobile payments via third party apps, support for password generation on more sites, and general stability and performance improvements.

Nevertheless, this change should help users steer away from password reuse, which is now a big problem. Omnibox will now show you answers directly in the address bar without having to open a new tab. If you've been running any of the Chrome Beta builds, this will look familiar, but everyone should get the new coat of paint today.

If all you need is a simple answer to a question, Google's combination search bar/address bar, which it calls the Omnibox, will now display relevant information as you type on the Mac.

You also have the ability to change the backgrounds for your new tab page to a collection of preselected images provided by Google or by uploading your own image.

On desktop, click the 3 dots icon at the top right of your Chrome window, select Settings, click the Menu bar and click About Chrome. It's fast, and it's always receiving powerful new features.

Google Chrome recently started labeling all HTTP websites as insecure, introduced site isolation, and added native ad-blocking.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will play an even bigger role in future versions, according to the Chrome development team. There's a new birthday edition of the "Offline Dino Game" that'll be available through September. Whether someone will be annoyed enough to stop using Flash or abandon Chrome depends on the user, of course.

Moving forward, Chrome promises to integrate Augmented Reality into the web experience.
