Nvidia's next-generation gaming graphics cards, the RTX 20 series, will launch on September 20 with a pair of products that'll start at $699.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told Monday's Gamescom crowd that the Turing chip shipping in the consumer-grade RTX cards ships with 18.9 billion transistors, and that it includes three discrete processors: the Turing SM, the RT Core, and the Tensor Core. "Computer graphics will never be the same again", he said at the Gamescom conference in Germany.

NVIDIA has launched the long awaited next generation of graphics cards from the company, the GeForce RTX. MSI was at the front of the pack today when everyone scrambled to announce Turing-based graphics cards. We weren't able to see what settings the game was running at as the options screens were cut down in the build we were capturing, but GeForce Experience was capturing at the game resolution and the RTX footage we have is 1080p. That task was hard to do well in the past, Huang said in his presentation.

Huang described the generational lead from the very capable Pascal architecture to Turing as a "shocking contrast", which certainty cranks the hype machine for the new GeForce graphics. Upcoming games with ray tracing include Battlefield V, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, Control, Assetto Corsa Competizione and more.
