A woman in New Jersey, who thought that she was helping a down-and-out man pay for his gas station food, ended up footing the bill for country music star Keith Urban.

Paying it forward at a Medford Wawa Friday led to a memorable encounter with singer Keith Urban for a local substitute teacher.

So this past Friday, when the customer in front of her at the Wawa on Route 541 in Medford was having an issue at the register, she jumped at the opportunity to help. "I said, 'Yeah, well if you're Keith Urban, where is Nicole (Kidman, his wife) and who is that woman you were with?' He said 'It's my sister, let's go ask her.' My snippy words were, 'Yes, I'm sure she wouldn't lie to an old lady.' I was so sure he was just yanking my chain". As Olivia Prouse, a former student of Reed's, wrote on Twitter, Reed thought Urban was "down on his luck and couldn't pay for his Wawa snacks so she bought them for him".

"When he told me who he was, I didn't believe him!"

The country star played Camden's BB&T Pavilion on Friday night, which he said he nearly called "the PB&J Center" in a video following the performance.

"And he said, 'What's your name?' Ruth". "I have done that ever since. I would encourage everybody to do it because it makes you feel good about you".

"And I just fell apart, fell apart", she said.

Reed admits she took some convincing.

"I didn't know it was Keith Urban".

As a picture shows, it really was Keith Urban.

"Occasionally it happens a few times a week", she captioned the adorable photo of her blushing next to Urban.
