The Tampa Police Department received a report around 4 p.m. Thursday that Denson threw her 4-year-old daughter into the river near the Columbus Drive Bridge.

According to a Tampa Police Department press release, Denson had stolen a grey auto with which she drove herself and her daughter to the Hillsborough river on Thursday.

Tampa police say Denson drove Je'Hyrah Daniels in a stolen vehicle Thursday to the Hillsborough River, waded in with the girl, tossed her into the water, and walked away.

Tampa Police responded to the scene along the Hillsborough River, which runs through Downtown Tampa and retrieved the child, who was eventually pronounced dead, Thursday afternoon.

Police quickly found Denson walking nearby. She's since been charged with first degree felony murder, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto.

"Unfortunately, at this point, there are more questions than there are answers", said Dugan. At one time, both the child and the mother were screaming, according to officials.

"They were fully clothed which was the other very odd thing to me".
