The series, created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, frustrated some fans at the end of its second season due to overlapping narratives that many viewers found impossible to make sense of and/or follow.

During his speech at HBO's Television Critics Association event this morning, programming chief Casey Bloys revealed that Game of Thrones Season 8 will be airing in "the first half" 2019. In June, HBO announced that they'd given a green light to a spin-off from Kick-Ass and Kingsman co-writer Jane Goldman and author George R.R. Martin, whose series of A Song of Ice and Fire novels provided the basis for HBO's smash hit fantasy series Game of Thrones.

Questions surrounding the show arose earlier this year when five women came forward to the Los Angeles Times with allegations of sexually inappropriate and expoitative behavior against Franco, who also executive produces the series. "And for a show to arouse that kind of feeling, that's what we want".

The pilot that's now in development is helmed by Jane Goldman and set in the world of "Game of Thrones" - hundreds of years before Jon Snow was even a pout in his parents' eyes.
