Dailey told NBC that he's a Republican and donated to Jordan's first congressional campaign in 1994. "If I had been, I would have dealt with it".

Guest host Leland Vittert, filling in for America's Newsroom anchor Bill Hemmer, was speaking with a panel of media guests during a segment of the show's second hour about recent allegations against Jordan by former Ohio State wrestlers who claim he was dismissive of sex abuse claims involving former team doctor Richard Strauss in the 1990s.

Jordan, a founder of the conservative Freedom Caucus, is one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress and a potential contender for speaker. He has taken leading roles in fighting the Affordable Care Act and in pushing back against the government's Russian Federation investigation, most recently interrogating Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in committee.

Jordan's office claimed on Thursday that he was being "bullied" by one of the wrestlers who had contacted him: 'Rep. However, the law firm representing Ohio State contradicted that statement in a statement of its own, so it's not clear that Jordan is being entirely forthcoming about anything at this point.

The law firm Perkins Coie was hired by Porter Wright to conduct an independent investigation into Strauss's behavior.

Perkins Coie also is reviewing whether Strauss examined high school students. "Jim Jordan is one of the most outstanding people I've met since I've been in Washington and I believe him 100 percent".

Their statements came after Jordan told The Columbus Dispatch this spring that he "had not heard about any type of abuse at all". "But at the end of the day, he is absolutely lying if he says he doesn't know what was going on".

Dailey told NBC News, "It was very common knowledge in the locker room that if you went to Dr. Strauss for anything, you would have to pull your trousers down", and that Jordan was present when this was discussed. DiSabato, 50, said he was moved to tell Ohio State of Strauss' actions after hearing accounts previous year of gymnasts sexually abused by sports doctor Larry Nassar. DiSabato began emailing Jordan in April, and on Wednesday, Jordan reported the emails to the U.S. Capitol Police, describing the latest as "the last straw" to Fox News. He called Jordan a close friend, but said it was painful to see that Jordan was denying any knowledge of allegations against Strauss.

Dailey said it was "hurtful" Jordan is denying any knowledge of the alleged abuse. He said he's willing to meet with investigators, but his office had no record of any meeting requests.
