Instagram Stories celebrates 400 million users with music in Stories


The change follows Instagram's recent collaboration with Spotify, which lets users share songs from the Spotify app to their Instagram Stories. The app will be adding "music stickers", which will allow users to choose songs to accompany their photos and videos.

On iOS, users can also opt to choose a song before shooting a photo or video.

Music will be added through "stickers", which will appear beside location, GIF, and other sticker add-ons. You can search for a specific song or artist, or browse by genre, mood, and what's popular. Tap that to bring up a library to search for the flawless song or browse by mood, genre or popularity. When your story is being watched, the song will play and a sticker will show the song title and artist name. When opening the camera, swipe to the new "Music" option under the record button.

The feature is now available only in a few selected countries and Instagram is working towards launching the feature in more countries. The announcement mentions that "Instagram Stories is now used by 400 million every day", over twice as many as Snapchat's daily user number. Additionally, the option to choose a song before capturing video is now only available on iOS platform, with Android rollout expected soon.
