AMC has announced plans for its own movie subscription service, which despite being double the price of MoviePass, offers many additional perks. The service, which will cost $19.95 per month, gets you access to the very best of AMC up to 3 times per week, including multiple movies per day and repeat visits to already-seen movies.

The program will officially launch June 26. AMC Theatres CEO and president Adam Aron used the opportunity to take a jab at its popular competitor in his own statement on Wednesday.

Writer Nick Statt of The Verge said movie theater companies might be fearful of MoviePass since the subscription service changes how customers see the value of a ticket. Since MoviePass slashed its monthly fee, questions have mounted over the long-term viability of its economic model. Variety reported that the company pays full price for tickets and then discounts them.

MoviePass has attracted 3 million members, but the stock price of the service's parent company, Helios and Matheson, has dropped from $38 a share to 44 cents a share.

MoviePass and AMC have been at odds since soon after the movie subscription service announced its unlimited plan last summer. "Different versions of this type of program have worked well in Europe for more than a decade to drive incremental attendance and we feel strongly that given the choice, audiences will want to see their favorite films in Imax". They can also see all three movies in one day, with a two-hour wait between each showtime.

Meanwhile, outside of the three ticket per week allotment, the service also offers all of the existing benefits of an AMC Stubs Premiere membership.
