Sessions says comparing separated children's quarters to Nazi Germany is an "exaggeration"

President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign manager claimed Tuesday it was "time" for the commander-in-chief to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and said the special counsel's investigation of Russia's meddling in the 2016 election should end, citing the scathing Justice Department Inspector General's report on the FBI's handling of the Hillary Clinton private email server investigation.

Police also say one of the protesters was struck by a vehicle during the protest, but was apparently unharmed and refused medical treatment. "That is why I joined my colleagues in cosponsoring H.Res.927 which condemns the Administration's blanket policy of separating children from parents if they cross the US border illegally or in search of asylum". "We can not and will not encourage people to bring their children or other children to the country unlawfully by giving them immunity in the process".

As a result of the policy, ProPublica reported that 2,300 children have been separated from their parents since the policy was announced in April and are being held in warehouses, tents and big box stores.

This is a developing story, WWL-TV will continue to update the story as it develops. "Congressional Republicans need to get off their hands and act on comprehensive reform and more immediately, stop this cruel policy of separation".

Roberts said that although he firmly supports enforcing immigration law, "I am against using parental separation as a deterrent to illegal immigration". It was focused on freeing and otherwise helping children who come to the border without a parent or guardian.

Sessions on Monday also confirmed that the new policy meant to send a "message" and deter people from "breaking across the border unlawfully"-just hours after Homeland Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen slammed that very notion".

"The attorney general made a bad mistake when he did. he certainly should have let us know if he was going to recuse himself and we would have put a different attorney general in", Trump said in April.

AG Sessions echoed these claims Monday, arguing that if Congress "passed legislation to end the lawlessness", then children wouldn't have to be separated from their parents.

The letter repeatedly refers to the policy as being at the sole discretion of Sessions, not the result of an unavoidable law, as the Trump administration has been repeating in a lie to the American people. It beefs up border security, clamps down on illegal entries and reinforces other immigration laws.

The emotional toll for migrant children caught at the border is not new.

"Separating families at the border has no place in our nation's immigration process".

"As former U.S. Attorneys, we know that none of these consequences?-?nor the policy itself?-?is required by law".
