President Trump Grants Clemency to Alice Johnson After Kim Kardashian Meeting

When Kim Kardashian West learned that Alice Marie Johnson - a nonviolent drug offender serving a life sentence - would be freed, she broke the news to her while sobbing on the phone.

The commuted life sentence comes after Ms Kardashian West met with the President to lobby for the release of Johnson's, who was convicted for taking part in a cocaine distribution ring in 1996.

"I just got off the most wonderful, emotional and awesome phone call with Alice, Kim and Alice's lawyers", Holley shared.

"I've been in communication with the White House and trying to bring her case to the president's desk and figure out how we can get her out", she said of Johnson, who has spent over two decades behind bars.

Johnson's daughter Catina Scales spoke with Business Insider earlier on Wednesday, as she was en route to pick her mother up from the Aliceville correctional facility in Alabama. "Kim was the one to tell Alice that she was being released".

After Trump commuted Johnson's sentence, Kardashian said that Trump called her personally to break the news.
