Arjun Tendulkar, Hyderabad’s Ajay in India u-19 team

Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun seems to have made a big stride in his nascent cricket career as the 18-year-old was selected in the India U-19 team for a tour of Sri Lanka in July 2018.

Unlike his illustrious father who initially aspired to be a fast bowler, Arjun is close to becoming one. In terms of swing, especially bringing the ball back into the right-hander, he's become a lot more accurate and hits the right areas. He is also primarily a lower-middle-order batsman, but is working hard on what his coaches believe is his "secondary skillset" now. Arjun has trained under former India fast bowler Subroto Banerjee. "Watch his cricket and see for yourself", said Gaikwad.

Yash Rathod (VCA): Yash Rathod, the middle-order batsman for Vidarbha U-19 squad, helped his side in lifting the Cooch Behar Trophy past year. What has Arjun done to merit selection?

This time, however, Indian great Sachin Tendulkar will be watching from the stands as his son, Arjun Tendulkar, takes the field for the Indian under-19 side.

Devdutt Padikkal (KSCA): The Karnataka cricketer, Devdutt Padikkal, who plays for Bellary Tuskers in the Karnataka Premier League, has been included in the squad.

What are the factors that have contributed to Arjun's rise?

But the milestone did not come easy for Tendulkar junior. He was picked as part of a 15-member squad by the country´s junior selection committee, according to a press release by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Last year, he landed a yorker on Jonny Bairstow's toe to give him an injury scare ahead of the South Africa Tests. The series is expected to bag quite a bit of limelight as Arjun Tendulkar, de facto the son of Sachin Tendulkar will take part in the tournament.
