Authorities identified the woman who was attacked by the alligator as Shizuka Matsuki, 46.

Her husband was away in Chicago on Friday, neighbor Peter Limia told the Herald, but had warned Matsuki to be careful - or to possibly avoid walks alone at the nature park altogether.

"Any body of water in Florida, you've got to know at some point or another there's an alligator", said Heather Porrata, who lives nearby. She was walking her dogs near the water when she was pulled in. Now, hours later, park rangers have reportedly captured the animal, according to Sun Sentinel. Tina Gonzales, who lives in Davie, said she visited the park past year and a large gator swam up to where she and her son were fishing.

Matsuki was married and she and her husband have walked their dogs in that park before, family friend Jim Borrelli told Fox 10. He hadn't heard of any sabotaged traps or interference in capturing the alligator. The missing woman's dogs are now in custody of Broward County Animal Care and Adoption. "We never went back again".

A trapper hired by authorities removed a 12-foot-6-inch alligator from the pond and killed it. Since 1948, it says there have been 300 incidents when alligators have bitten people, and 22 have died.
